A man has been jailed after being found guilty of rape.
Brian Light was convicted of the offence in July, Cumbria Police said.
The 36-year-old of Carlisle, also admitted actual bodily harm and criminal damage at the city's crown court.
He was sentenced to nine years in jail on Tuesday after officers said his victim had shown "courage and strength". He was also put on the sex offenders register indefinitely and barred from working with children and vulnerable adults for life.
A spokeswoman for the Cumbria force said: "If you are a victim of sexual offences don't suffer in silence."
