A 73-year-old woman from Warwickshire has completed a charity abseil down Coventry Cathedral.

Margaret Logan scaled the 90m (295 ft) side of the building on Saturday to raise money for Myton Hospice.

She was joined by retirement home manager Shantelle Driscoll.

Together, the pair have raised nearly £600 from their abseil.

Ms Logan said the views from the top of the cathedral, looking out over the city, were impressive.

“I must admit I enjoyed doing it because I’m not frightened of heights,” she said.

“There were a lot of spectators there as well.”

She added: “I would do it again, but maybe not for two or three years if I’m still around.”

She said she had previously abseiled elsewhere – including once in South Africa – and it was something she enjoyed doing.

Ms Driscoll commented: “Margaret was raring to go, once we got going it was OK.

“It was for a good cause and it’s another thing ticked off my bucket list, thanks to her for pushing me to do it.”
