Guernsey's state-owned airline has leased a jet after one of its planes suffered "technical issues".

Aurigny said it had temporarily leased an A320 jet from Heston Airlines due to problems with one of its ATR-72.

The airline said it would be using the jet to help cover the route from Guernsey to London Gatwick.

An Aurigny spokesperson apologised for any disruption caused to passengers while the technical issues with its plane are sorted.

"We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and apologise for any disruption to their travel plans," the spokesperson said.

"We want to reassure our customers that our team is working tirelessly to mitigate the impact of these circumstances.

"Our customer service team is on hand to assist with further enquiries or concerns."

Aircraft leased previously

In January, Aurigny leased an ATR-600 aircraft from Eastern Airways.

The aircraft was used on the Guernsey to Manchester route while Aurigny's G-OATR underwent a service.

At the time, the airline said leasing aircraft would help "simplify" its fleet.

In November, Aurigny announced plans to sell its only jet and replace it with two turboprop planes, such as ATR 72-600 aircraft.

According to Aurigny's website, external, it has four ATR-72s as part of its fleet, with each of the aircraft carrying 72 passengers.
