A section of a major route connecting the Isle of Man's capital with the north has closed for the continuation of surveying works.

The A18 Mountain Road, from Creg ny Baa to the Brandywell junctions, is closed until 15:30 GMT.

The works are part of a road safety improvement programme that requires surveying works ahead of a month-long resurfacing project in the spring.

The road is due to shut again at 09:30 on Tuesday for the continuation of the work, with Wednesday earmarked as a contingency day if needed.

It marks the final of three two-day closures in December ahead of the resurfacing project in April.

A section of the road, from the Bungalow to Creg ny Baa was closed at 09:10 following a single vehicle road traffic collision.

However, that Isle of Man Constabulary said it had involved minor injuries and the road had been cleared.
