School to close after death of assistant head
- Published
A primary school in Coventry will close to pupils on Monday, external following the death of its "much loved and highly respected" assistant head teacher.
In a letter to parents, seen by the BBC, St Christopher on Allesley Old Road, Allesley, said Andrea Harrison passed away suddenly over the weekend.
The school was "utterly devastated" by her death and trying to come to terms with the "senseless loss," it stated.
Out of respect to her - and to allow staff time to prepare for children to return - the school would be shut on Monday, the letter added.
Mrs Harrison had worked in the school for nearly 10 years and was described as a "dear friend" to many staff.
As she was well known to most pupils, the letter, from the school's head teacher, deputy head and chair of governors, suggested parents might want to talk to their child before Tuesday.
