An application to open a restaurant in a Grade II listed city centre building has been lodged.

Pizza Express wants to open a branch in the former Burton building in Whitefriargate, Hull.

Earlier this year, Hull City Council approved a change of use for the recently refurbished building, allowing a restaurant on the ground floor.

The new application has raised questions about the future of the nearby Pizza Express branch in Princes Quay.

Asked about the implications for that restaurant, a Pizza Express spokesperson told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: "We regularly review our pizzeria locations."
