A woman has been arrested after a car overturned on a main road in West Sussex, police have said.

Officers were called to the A23 southbound at Hickstead at 08:15 BST on Sunday.

The 51-year-old was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving without a licence.

She has been taken into police custody. No-one was injured and no other vehicles were involved, a police spokesperson said.

The road was closed southbound for vehicle recovery but has since reopened.

Sussex Police is appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
