A 15-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in a targeted attack in a Glasgow street.
Police Scotland said four people in dark clothing were seen leaving Denbeck Street, Shettleston, after the assault at 22:30 on Thursday.
Emergency services took the boy to the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is in a stable condition.
The attack follows a number of recent violent knife incidents involving young people, including the death of 16-year-old Kayden Moy on Irvine beach.
Det Insp Lesley-Ann McGee said: "This was a violent attack that left a teenage boy with serious injuries, and we are doing everything we can to trace those responsible.
"I would urge anyone who saw what happened or noticed anything suspicious in the area to get in touch with police as soon as possible."
She also urged anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to get in touch, external.
Chief Insp Ross Aitken, area commander for Shettleston and Easterhouse, said there would be additional patrols in the area.
He added: "At this time, we believe it was a targeted attack and there is no information to suggest any wider risk to the public."

Kayden Moy died after a disturbance at Irvine beach
Earlier this month, Police Scotland urged young people not to carry knives, following the death of Kayden Moy.
The teenager, from East Kilbride, died after a large disturbance on Irvine beach on 17 May.
Two suspects, both aged 17, have been charged with his murder.
In a separate incident, on 16 May, a teenager was stabbed on Portobello beach in Edinburgh.
A 16-year-old boy has since been charged with attempted murder.
Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable Tim Mairs said the incidents demonstrated the "tragic consequences" of carrying knives.
