A major flyover has been closed for four weeks for roadworks to take place.
The A38 flyover in South Gloucestershire, near Gypsy Patch Lane, will be shut until 31 August so replacement joints can be installed on the carriageway.
Diversions and traffic management will also be in place under the bridge from 11 August until December, while further repair works are carried out, South Gloucestershire Council said.
A council spokesperson warned drivers in the area to expect delays and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
"After nearly 50 years [the flyover] now needs significant work to make sure it can remain in use without permanent weight restrictions, lane closures or carriageway closures," they added.
Access to businesses and homes will be maintained at all times, but there will be some unavoidable noise in the area, the council said.
"Activity on site is being limited to week days between 08:00 BST and 17:00 BST with a small amount of occasional evening and overnight working," the spokesperson added.
The roadworks are one of a number in the northern fringes of Bristol.
