Search for person missing off coast stood down

A search for a 42-year-old man missing off the East Yorkshire coast has been stood down, it has been confirmed.

HM Coastguard said it responded to reports of an incident at Thornwick Bay in Flamborough at about 21:08 BST on Wednesday.

Police and ambulance crews attended, along with Bridlington Coastguard rescue team, an HM Coastguard rescue helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft, as well as RNLI lifeboats from Flamborough, Scarborough and Bridlington.

HM Coastguard said the search was stood down shortly before 17:00 BST.

Humberside Police said officers from its underwater search and marine unit had been involved in the operation.

The force has been contacted for an update.
