A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after a pedestrian was hit by a lorry in Lancashire.

The 60-year-old woman was struck by a white DAF lorry on North Valley Road, Colne, at 10:44 BST and died at the scene.

Lancashire Police said a 65-year-old man was in custody being questioned by detectives.

Det Sgt Joseph Ghigi said officers were "particularly keen" to see any footage of the lorry as it travelled on towards Preston.

"I know that this has been widely discussed in the community, and I want to take this time to remind you that an active investigation is ongoing, and we would strongly encourage people to refrain from speculation around the circumstances of the collision online or otherwise," he said.
