A police force is taking action after reports of horse and traps being raced on two A-roads.
Essex Police has a dispersal order in place across parts of Basildon, Thurrock and Rochford until 11:00 BST on Tuesday.
It came into force on Sunday and covers a large stretch of the A127 Southend arterial road and also includes parts of the A13.
The force said it was "due to issues relating to large numbers of people on the roads in connection with horse and traps".

Insp David Darnell said: "This order gives officers the power to order a group of two or more people to leave the area if they are committing, or likely to commit, a criminal offence.
"This won't affect people going about their lawful business, but it is vital that our roads are safe and free flowing for all and we will act promptly to deal with any issues or concerns.
"Officers will be in the area to ensure this order is complied with and everyone is able to go about their day."
The order covers Fobbing, Stanford-le-Hope, Orsett, South Ockendon, West Horndon, Dunton and Laindon.
