An eight-year-old girl has won a bravery award after she alerted the ambulance service when her mum suffered a seizure at home.
Evalyn dialled 999 in February after her mother, Lynette, collapsed due to a non-epileptic seizure in Wainfleet, Skegness.
Sam Priestly, who answered the call, said: "Evalyn did brilliantly. She stayed calm, answered all my questions clearly, and helped us get the right help as quickly as possible."
Lynette said: "Hearing how Evalyn handled everything makes me so proud. She didn't see it as bravery – just helping her mum."
Accepting her award, Evalyn said she was "upset and scared" but added: "If you can be brave in one little thing, you can be a star, too."
She said she knew what to do after being taught by her older sister, who had given her a book outlining the steps to take.
"I watched my sister when I was four years old and memorised it, so I could call 999 and do what the lady said on the phone," she explained.
Lynette described Evalyn, who was with her one-year-old sister at the time, as "studious, creative and kind".
She added: "I don't remember much of that day, other than waking up with a headache and not feeling very well.
"I knelt on the floor and put my head on the bed and the next thing I saw was a paramedic helping me.
"I taught my eldest daughter that this is what is going to happen to mum and she has taught Evalyn how to put me in the recovery position, call 999 and just listen and stay calm."
Evalyn was presented with an East Midlands Ambulance Service Children's Bravery Award earlier by the team who answered and responded to the call.
