Meet the traffic officers keeping roads safe
North West Tonight's Phil McCann spent the day with the staff on the M6

There is just under 400 miles of motorway across north-west England, stretching from Carlisle to the edge of the Peak District and everywhere in-between.
It is all managed by National Highways, whose traffic officers patrol the roads 24-hours a day, seven days a week – keeping drivers safe and, hopefully, traffic moving.
From picking up debris, tyres popping and helping driver's whose vehicles have broken down officers patrol the motorways across Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.
North West Tonight's Phil McCann spent the day with them on the M6.
