A second man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman was attacked close to a shopping centre in Birmingham.

The suspect, aged 21, was detained after the victim was assaulted close to the One Stop Shopping Centre, in Walsall Road, at about 01:45 GMT last Saturday.

West Midlands Police are continuing to investigate whether the attack was connected to another assault, which took place later in nearby Aldridge Road,

The first suspect, 22, was detained at an address in Birmingham on Monday and has been bailed while inquiries continue.

In a statement, the force said officers were continuing to keep an open mind as to whether the attacks were linked.

"We still want to hear from anyone who has information, particularly any dashcam or mobile phone footage, to send it directly to our officers," it added.
