Man arrested in rape investigation

A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman was attacked in Birmingham.

The 22-year-old's arrest came after the incident near the One Stop Shopping Centre on Walsall Road, Perry Barr, shortly before 02:00 GMT on Saturday.

Officers are also investigating a separate report of another woman being assaulted on Aldridge Road a short time later.

The suspect was arrested at an address in the Birmingham area on Monday, West Midlands Police confirmed.

Officers said they were keeping an open mind as to whether the two incidents were linked.
