A four-year-old girl was critically injured when she was hit by a firework on Bonfire Night, police have said.

Lancashire Police said officers were called to Elm Street in Burnley on Wednesday following reports of fireworks being misused in the area.

A force spokesperson said detectives had identified a suspect.

The injured girl was taken to hospital, where her condition remains critical.
