A man has been charged after a woman was seriously injured in Dungannon, County Tyrone.

The woman, who is in her 40s, was taken to hospital after sustaining a serious leg injury at a property in Altmore Drive.

It was reported to police at about 11:30 GMT on Saturday.

The 43-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is expected to appear before Enniskillen Magistrates' Court on Monday.

All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
