A 50-year-old man has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of human trafficking and modern slavery offences.

The man, from Dunstable, Bedfordshire, was arrested on Thursday after Hertfordshire Police received intelligence that several women may have been sexually exploited at an address in Elstree.

At the address, officers said there was a woman who had travelled to the UK but claimed she had quickly become involved in sex work. Police said she was in "distress" and safeguarding support was provided.

Investigations were continuing, the force said. People with concerns about human trafficking or modern slavery have been told to call police via 101 or through the Modern Slavery Helpline, external.
