Bus driver dispute ends as new pay offer accepted

Stagecoach workers in Liverpool took part in strikes last month

Industrial action by hundreds of bus drivers in Liverpool has ended after union members accepted a pay offer.

Stagecoach workers, based at the Gillmoss depot, took part in strikes last month because drivers said they were paid less than those at other companies in the region.

Unite said the union has agreed a 5.1% rise with the company.

Matt Davies, managing director at Stagecoach Merseyside, thanked customers for their patience and said the company was "glad to be back to running a full service again".

Unite regional officer Brian Troake said the "determination" of drivers to fight for better pay had led to the company "coming back with an acceptable offer which our members have accepted”.

The new pay deal will cover the next two years, a Stagecoach representative said.
