A pupil at a boarding school who attacked two sleeping roommates and his housemaster with a hammer has denied fitting his evidence to a report by a sleep scientist.

The boy, aged 17, denies three charges of attempted murder at Blundell's School in Tiverton, Devon in June 2023, and said he was sleepwalking.

At Exeter Crown Court James Dawes KC, prosecuting, asked the teenager about the sleepwalking claim and whether he had read a defence-commissioned report by sleep scientist Dr Mark Pressman and fitted his story to that.

The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons and was 16 at the time of the attacks, repeatedly said he had not read the report, only a summary.

The jury also heard the teenager asked about the use of his iPad in the minutes leading up to the attacks, and he admitted he was awake at 00:47 BST replaying a song called Light it Up at least twice.

The court has heard the 999 call was made by another pupil from the private school at 00:57.

The trial continues.
