Accessible beach guide launched in Cornwall
- Published
An accessible beach guide has been launched in Cornwall to help people with disabilities access more of the coastline.
The guide, created by Access Cornwall CIC, contains information on wheelchair access, parking, facilities, activities, services, terrain, and dog regulations.
It has identified 20 accessible beaches in its free guide and has colour-coded the locations with different accessibility ratings.
Director Viki Carpenter said the guide was a "significant step towards making Cornwall accessible for everyone".
'Empower individuals'
She said: "Thanks to amazing work by other organisations such as Cornwall Mobility, who have provided many beach chairs in Cornwall, many of our beaches are more accessible than ever.
"But those with disabilities and their families need to get good, clear information to plan a day out.
"Our goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to explore and experience the beauty of Cornwall's beaches."
The guide also includes information on where to hire beach wheelchairs and the locations of adapted surfing providers.
Beaches identified as having "good accessibility" include Summerleaze Beach, Gorran Haven and Porthminster Beach.
