A section of the northbound A1(M) in Hertfordshire was closed following a serious crash.

National Highways said the road was shut for about two hours between junction six, the Clock Interchange by Welwyn and Welwyn Garden City at the A1000, and junction seven, the Langley Sidings Interchange, by Stevenage at the A602, but had now reopened.

Hertfordshire Police, the East of England Ambulance Service and National Highways were called to the scene at about 13:50 BST.

National Highways said that the vehicles involved had been recovered and police had completed their investigation.
