Bomb squad blows up 'munitions' found in river
- Published
Bomb disposal experts have detonated suspected military weapons found in a river.
Derbyshire Police said the two devices, which they believe may have been mortars, were discovered by magnet fishers at Duffield Bridge in Duffield on Friday morning.
A stretch of Makeney Road was closed for several hours as an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team from the Army travelled to the scene and carried out a detonation.
The road has since reopened and the force thanked members of the public for their patience.
