Jersey jobs reach highest level on record

The number of jobs in Jersey's private and public sectors reached the highest recorded level since 2000 in June, according to a Labour market report.

Statistics Jersey said its Labour Market report, which is published every six months, saw 65,290 positions in the island in June 2024 - compared to 64,260 in December 2023.

There were 55,590 posts in Jersey's private sector and 9,710 in the civil service - the highest recorded figure to date.

Figures found that there was an annual increase of 70 jobs in the private sector, an increase of 450 jobs in the government and 130 more posts in private education, health and other services.

The number of jobs in the building trade and quarrying were down by 160 jobs and hotels, restaurants bars and retail were down by 100 jobs.
