A man has admitted murdering his wife at their home in Wolverhampton.

Kamaljeet Mahey was found with stab wounds at an address in Park Meadow Avenue, Bilston, on 15 December.

Despite efforts to save the 46-year-old, she was confirmed dead at the scene a short while later, police said.

Her husband Rajveer Mahey was charged with her murder and pleaded guilty to the charge at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday.

Mahey, 50, was remanded in custody to be sentenced on 19 April.

Eight days after the murder, their home was burgled, with sentimental items being stolen from the property, West Midlands Police said.

The break-in happened at about 01:00 GMT with items including jewellery, clothing and a television taken.

Det Insp Jim Mahon said it was a "tragic case that has left a family without a mother and a father".

“We believe the murder may have been driven by unsubstantiated jealousy, but the true motive may never be known," he said.
