Motorists have been told to expect further disruption on a main route into the Isle of Man’s capital as a resurfacing project continues.

The Department of Infrastructure said the road between Braddan Church and the Jubilee Oak had now been resurfaced.

That means work has now moved to the area of the second roundabout on the road, which also adjoins Braddan Road and Peel Road.

Diversions via Ballafletcher Road have now been put in place for traffic heading to and from the Strang and Noble’s Hospital.

The department said access from Braddan Road onto Peel Road in the direction of Quarterbridge, which had originally been due to be maintained on weekdays, would now be unavailable during the current works.

It is as a three-week project to resurface the road at Braddan Bridge progresses.

Resurfacing works around the Jubilee Oak had been due to be carried out with the full closure of the roundabout to all traffic at weekends only.

However, icy conditions last week followed by heavy rain at the weekend prevented the works progressing as planned.

Walkers, equestrians and cyclists have been given continued use of the heritage trail and TT Access Road between Quarterbridge and Braddan Bridge.

Emergency service vehicles have also maintained access to that route throughout the project, which has been scheduled to last until 31 January.
