A man arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman has been released on bail.

Officers were called to a home in Pinewood Road, Northampton, at about 06:05 BST on Saturday, where a woman in her 40s was found dead.

Northamptonshire Police said a 55-year-old man from Northampton who was arrested on Tuesday has been released pending further inquiries.

Det Insp Torie Harrison said the investigation is "complex and likely to take some time, but we are determined to establish the circumstances of the woman's death".

Specially trained officers were supporting the woman's family, and there will be an increased police presence in the neighbourhood over the weekend.

"Her family and friends remain very much in our thoughts, and I offer them our sincere condolences for their devastating loss," said Det Insp Harrison.
