Poppies are often sold by members of the armed forces

Poppies will be sold in Brighton after all as a volunteer has stepped in to fill a recruitment gap.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) previously said it had been unable to replace a long-serving appeal organiser for the city.

Regional poppy appeal manager Graham Ferris said it was "really good news for everybody in the Brighton area".

"A member of staff who lives in the area has come forward and volunteered to do it in her spare time," he told BBC Radio Sussex.

New, plastic-free poppies will now be distributed in Brighton.

RBL has revealed its new design featuring recyclable paper, with about 50% from discarded coffee cups and the rest from renewable fibres.
