A man has been stabbed several times in a "cowardly attack" at a music festival after trying to get closer to the main stage, police have said.
The 26-year-old man was wounded in the back and chest after the attack at 17:00 BST on Saturday at the Reminisce Festival in St Helens, Merseyside Police said.
Officers said the man was "assaulted by a gang of men" as he and his friends were moving through the crowd to get closer to the main stage at the event in Sherdley Park.
The injured man is now recovering at home, while the force has appealed for any CCTV or witnesses to the attack to come forward.
Det Insp Steve Byrom said it was a "cowardly attack" and "could have had ended up in more tragic consequences for the victim".
The festival was headlined by DJs Judge Jules, David Morales and German trio Cascada.
