A murder investigation is under way following the death of a 69-year-old man in Lincoln.

Officers said they attended Portland Street following a call on Tuesday morning and found John Connelly deceased inside a property.

His next of kin were aware and are being supported by specially trained officers, Lincolnshire Police said.

A spokesperson for the force said officers were working to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

A scene guard is in place and police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 101.

Officers have also set up a dedicated online portal, external.
