Guernsey Ports is recruiting for a new managing director for when the current one retires later this year.

Bosses said the process was already under way with a view to ensure a crossover period between Colin Le Ray and his successor.

The deadline for applications is 27 May.

In a public service career spanning 40 years, Mr Le Ray is retiring after having held several senior roles within the States of Guernsey.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my career," he said.

"I will miss ports and its people hugely. They have afforded me both the greatest challenge and the biggest reward in my career, without doubt.

"But, with over 40 years of service, it does feel like now is the right time to shuffle into retirement."

States Trading Group managing director Simon Elliott said they were looking for an experienced and motivational leader who would drive the business forward.

He said: "This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and delivery of Guernsey Ports’ long-term strategy, balancing financial sustainability and efficiency with high quality service delivery.

"Our ideal candidate will inspire a high performing culture across Guernsey Ports and promote a strong focus on the needs of customers in order to create long-term value for islanders."
