Plans to convert a hand car wash next to a retail park into an electronic vehicle (EV) charging hub have been approved.

Moreco Investments Ltd can now redevelop Bubbles Hand Car Wash at Parkway Sports and Social Club in Maskew Avenue, Peterborough, into 10 EV charging bays.

The planning permission was granted for canopies and an enclosure adjacent to the Boulevard Retail Park.

The application was approved by Peterborough City Council planners on Tuesday.

The council case officer's report said the "development is considered to respond to the opportunities and constraints of the site", according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Once opened, the charging station will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
