Students across Jersey have been opening their GCSE and Level 2 exam results.

In Jersey the pass rate was 76.3% which is higher than in England, Wales and Northern Ireland which was 67.4%.

Many of those at Le Rocquier School celebrated their success while others reflected on not getting the results they wanted.

Friends Ella, 16, Matilda, 16, and Veronica, 16, celebrated doing better than they expected.

Ella said: "I didn't think I would get some of the grades I did."

Matilda added: "I so happy with the grades that I got. I'm going to Highlands and I'm going to study Beauty Therapy".

Veronica said: "I'm very proud of how I did. I got 9s in Photography and Spanish and in English I got a 5, and I didn't expect it so I'm very happy."

Luis stayed positive despite not getting the results he wanted

Luis, 16, has cerebral palsy and said "unfortunately my GCSEs didn't go the way I wanted" but "I've tried hard so in the future we'll see how it goes".

He was born with the lifelong condition which affects movement and co-ordination, which is caused by a problem with the brain.

Luis said: "Doctors told me I wouldn't be able to walk and talk and eat by myself but I've proved them wrong.

"I've overcome challenges before and hopefully I will overcome these ones."

He added: "I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to Highlands College or straight into work so we will see what happens next".

This year's pass rate for the island was slightly lower than it was in 2024, which was 77%.
