Car hits child in pram in 'hit-and-run' crash

A car crashed into a one-year-old child in a pram in a hit-and-run, police have said.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the collision happened in Portsmouth at about 12:15BST on 19 September.

A woman was pushing the pram across Arundel Street, at the junction of Holbrook Road, when it was hit by a dark blue BMW saloon car.

No injuries were caused to the woman or the child.

Officers said the driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and reversing back before driving away.

The force has appealed to the driver to get in touch.

It said officers were are collecting CCTV footage and had spoken to some witnesses, but were appealing for anyone else who saw the incident or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
