Police have appealed for information after two teenage girls were seriously sexually assaulted at a park in Derbyshire.

Officers said a man sexually assaulted the girls between 21:00 GMT and 23:00 at Lockton Avenue Recreation Ground, in Heanor, on 31 October.

The girls, who are both receiving support from specialist officers, described the man as being white, about 40 years old, 5ft 8ins tall, skinny, with a short light ginger beard and wearing a green baseball-style cap and green coat.

Police are now urging anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone who may recognise the description of the man to come forward.

Police said they were also interested to speak to anyone who may have CCTV or doorbell footage on Roper Avenue, Lockton Avenue, Old Coppice Side, Shipley Park Gardens, Thorpe Hill Drive and Thorpes Road.
