Liskeard Town Council said it had marked its 50-year anniversary of twinning exchanges to Quimperlé in France

Liskeard has marked its 50-year anniversary since it signed the twinning charter with a town in France.

Liskeard Town Council said to mark the occasion the Mayor of Quimperlé, Michaël Quernez, invited the Civic Party from Liskeard to Brittany in September for a weekend ceremony.

The council said twinning first began between Liskeard and Quimperlé in October 1974 and since then, there had been many years of visits and collaborations between schools, sports clubs and community groups.

However that had become "less over time", the council added.

The council said it wanted to hear stories from those who have enjoyed trips to the French town and the "kind hospitality of their people".
