A 16-year-old boy has been arrested as part of an investigation into the disorder in Tamworth over the weekend.

The teenager, from Tamworth, was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and will be questioned in custody, Staffordshire Police confirmed.

It came after rioters descended on the Holiday Inn Express hotel in the town on Sunday, with social media footage showing windows being smashed and fires being lit at the scene.

Police said officers were continuing to review footage of the disorder, adding that more people would be arrested in Staffordshire in the coming days.

The force previously confirmed two people had been charged after 10 people were arrested in relation to the disorder in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday.
