A man has been found guilty of manslaughter after a teenager was killed in a knife attack in Dartford.

Denzel Njemo, 18, was stabbed in the leg and chest during an assault near the High Street on the evening of 14 April.

Chris Enaruba, 19, from Beaconsfield Road in London, was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.

He is due to be sentenced on 14 December.

'Much-loved'

Enaruba lunged at Mr Njemo with a knife after meeting in the High Street, Kent Police said.

Emergency services were called to an alleyway near Suffolk Road in the town but Mr Njemo died at the scene.

Enaruba later discarded his jacket and a knife near an electricity sub-station, but he and an associate were arrested in Gillingham, Kent, the following day.

At Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, a jury found him not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.

Another man, Abdul Yusuff, 19, who travelled to Dartford with Enaruba, was found not guilty of assisting an offender.

In a statement following the case, police said Mr Njemo's parents had "come to terms with the needless and senseless loss of a much-loved son, and brother".

Det Insp Ross Gurden, from Kent Police, said: "Whilst he may never have intended to kill Mr Njemo, Enaruba had travelled into Dartford armed with a knife and he had little hesitation in using what proved to be a deadly weapon."
