Murder arrest after body found after house fire

A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found in a house fire.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to the scene near Bwlch-llan, Ceredigion on Monday at about 14:15 BST.

Crews battled a "well-developed" fire within a two-storey house attached to a farmhouse, the fire service said, with firefighting efforts made harder by strong winds.

During the incident, "new information made it apparent" that one individual was unaccounted for and a body was discovered in the building once the fire had been brought under control, the fire service statement added.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the damage to the property was "extensive" and confirmed the man under arrest remained in police custody.
