A man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after two people were taken to hospital with "serious" stab wounds, police said.

Officers were called to Havenfield Road, in High Wycombe, at 23:30 BST on Sunday.

The 45-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was also charged with one count of possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in police custody and is due to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Thames Valley Police said the victims - a 41-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, from High Wycombe - were arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

Their injuries were serious but not life-threatening, and they remained in custody, the force added.

A 52-year-old man, who was also from the town, was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon and remained in police custody.

'No wider risk'

Det Ch Insp Holly Stockwell said police would remain in Havenfield Road "for some time" as inquiries continued.

"At this stage of the investigation, we believe the victims and offender are known to one another and there is no wider risk to the public," she said.
