Five attempted murder arrests after man injured

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after reports a man was seriously assaulted in a town centre.

Northamptonshire Police said the victim - aged in his 50s and who remains in hospital - was assaulted in London Road, Kettering, between midnight and 04:00 BST on Wednesday.

Three women from Kettering aged 45, 40 and 23 and two men aged 55 and 34 from Kettering and Corby respectively remain in custody.

Officers appealed for anyone with information to contact the force.

Police said they were carrying out additional patrols in the area to "provide reassurance and support to the community".
