Boy arrested as teenager seriously injured in crash

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences after a teenager was seriously injured in a crash.

Police were called to the collision in Gipsy Lane, Leicester, shortly before 02:00 BST on Thursday.

Officers said a 17-year-old boy was found injured at the scene and taken to hospital, while the 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

A spokesperson for the force said officers were working to establish what type of vehicles were involved.

Det Insp Parminder Dhillon, from the serious collision investigation unit, said inquiries to establish the circumstances of what happened were ongoing and urged witnesses to contact the force.

Gipsy Lane, previously shut between the Victoria Road East junction and Catherine Street, has since reopened.
