A car was damaged when the tree fell on to the public road in Milton Avenue

An emergency response unit from Network Rail helped clear a road after a large tree fell, blocking the route and causing damage to a parked car.

The incident happened on Milton Avenue, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, at about 18:20 BST on Monday.

The tree, close to the c2c railway line and Westcliff station, fell through boundary fencing before blocking the road, as first reported by Your Southend., external

A spokesperson from Network Rail said the response team worked with the council to remove the tree by 20:37.
