Yorkshire pudding Halloween costume goes viral
- Published
A dad has constructed a Halloween costume for his son made from "about 350" Yorkshire puddings.
James Paley, landlord at the Saxon King in Southend-on-Sea, has been making similar costumes for a decade but posted a video for the first time this year.
The TikTok post, external has been viewed more than three million times and has attracted interactions from big brands such as Aunt Bessie, Nissan, Asda and Aldi.
"The wife said 'why don't you pop it on your TikTok so your 22 followers can enjoy it'… six hours later it got 100,000 views," Mr Paley said.
The puddings are threaded together and spray lacquer used to stop it deteriorating before Halloween.
He said: "We've got a 10-grid Combi oven, which is an absolute godsend, and having Aldi next door is easy access to eggs, milk and flour.
"The chest plate, we've done it like medieval armour, so baked chicken wire into the Yorkshire then attached string and then hung it over.
"We had it hung up on the bottom of the stairs for months and months, every time you came in the door you'd sort of twitch forgetting it was there."
Mr Paley said he used to make the costumes for his middle son who has since left to go to university but was pleased the tradition had continued.
