Local building companies and tradespeople are being sought to help build Guernsey's new post-16 campus.

Rok Group, the main contractor appointed to replace the campus at Les Ozouets in St Peter Port, is hosting an event on Wednesday.

The firm's director Kevan Nelson said it wanted to find as much "expertise on island" as possible, including tradespeople, construction companies, and materials suppliers.

He said Rok was keen to "go on a journey" with potential suppliers and to upskill them if needed.

'Perfect legacy piece'

The company wanted to meet local companies and contractors to "get to know them and what they can do", he said.

Mr Nelson said Rok was also happy to hear from people looking for entry-level roles and apprenticeships.

He said the company would work with suppliers to create opportunities for local youngsters and it would be "wonderful" if someone who had studied on the Les Ozouets campus ended up working on the project.

"That would be the perfect full-legacy piece," he said.

The event will be held between 14:00 and 18:00 BST at Hotel de Havelet in St Peter Port.
