A vehicle and trailer fire closed a major road in both directions earlier with motorists warned of delays.
Fire crews were sent to the blaze on the A30 at Highgate Hill, near Indian Queens, at 05:51 BST.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters from St Dennis and Newquay fire stations made "good progress" and the fire is now out.
The westbound carriageway reopened at about 07:15 and one lane of the eastbound opened at about 09:10 but the second remained closed until Thursday morning while resurfacing works were carried out. Devon and Cornwall Police also attended the scene.
