Tributes have been paid to a "brilliant" flight instructor and fighter pilot who died in an off-duty paragliding accident.

Flt Lt Geoff Corser died after the incident at Dinorwig Quarry, Gwynedd, on 23 August.

An "esteemed" flying instructor at RAF Valley on Anglesey, his colleagues said he would be remembered for his "excellence, selflessness", and "humility".

His funeral was held on Thursday at St Padarn's Church in Llanberis.

Paying tribute, group captain Peter Ward and group captain Gez Currie, station commander at RAF Valley, said the "entire Number 4 Flying Training School and RAF Valley family are heartbroken at the loss of our colleague and friend".

They added: "Geoff was a brilliant instructor and fighter pilot.

"His professional legacy – excellence, selflessness, humility – lives on through the many RAF and Royal Navy fighter pilots he helped train who now defend our nation at home and abroad."

But they said above all, Flt Lt Corser was a son, brother, and partner.

"We offer our deepest condolences to his family, and we, his work family, will never let his memory or legacy be forgotten," they added.

Sharing news of Flt Lt Corser's death, RAF Valley said he had "died doing something he was passionate about in life – flying", adding: "Geoff was an esteemed flying instructor at RAF Valley, highly respected by both his colleagues and the students he taught."
