An XL bully dog has been put down after its owner was attacked in Stoke-on-Trent.
Police were called to Rawlins Street, Northwood shortly after midday on Friday 19 April over reports a woman in a house had been bitten by a dog.
The woman had suffered a "significant" leg injury, and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
An XL bully was seized at the property, and put down with the permission of the injured woman, said Staffordshire Police.
The breed is the largest of the American bully dogs, and ownership is restricted under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
Since 31 December 2023, it has been against the law to sell, give away, abandon or breed from an XL bully.
Since 1 February 2024, it has also been a criminal offence to own an XL bully without an exemption certificate.
