A 31-year-old man has died after falling from his motorbike on the M53 motorway in Wirral.

It happened at 15:30 BST on Sunday at the Moreton Spur on the northbound carriageway, on the Junction 2 slip road. Merseyside Police said officers did not believe any other vehicle was involved.

The M53 was closed northbound while emergency services, including an air ambulance helicopter responded.

Highways England North West posted on X shortly before 19:00 that the carriageway had reopened, but the slip road remained shut.
